The Club is pleased to announce its support of Pink Stumps Day on Saturday 23rd February 2013.
Our Under 13A side and our 1st XI team will participate in the day, where every dollar raised makes a difference. Your donation will help the McGrath Foundation to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia, as well as to increase breast awareness in young Australian women. Event coordinator Wendy Sims said that after last year’s successful launch of Pink Stumps Day with the BUCC Under 11A side, the natural extension was to have both a junior and senior team involved. “This season we have the Under 13A team supporting Pink Stumps Day, and for the first time we have the 1st XI team participating. After the junior side raised just under $2,000 for the McGrath Foundation last season, we hope to better that with the support of both the junior and senior teams. It is a great cause, and one that I hope everyone at the Club supports.” Aside from the cricket, there are some great activities planned to supplement the cricket on Pink Stumps Day. The Club is hosting a Ladies Day at the Leo Shanahan Rooms from 4pm, with all ladies encouraged to come along and have a glass of champagne and some nibblies at $10 a head, with all proceeds going towards the McGrath Foundation. Kick on later that night to our Club function at the Bendigo Club where Patrick Naughtin will host “Perfect Match” from 7:30pm. Have a meal and a few drinks, wear a splash of pink, and join in the fun. We will have more McGrath Foundation fundraising activity that night as well, and keep checking the website for more details as we get closer. Finally, a big thank you to everyone for your support of our 160th Reunion weekend. The current player and supporter group, and the many past players and supporters who come back to the Club made the weekend a great success. A copy of the event booklet is available for download from the website, and we have posted some photos from the night as well. Thank you to WIN Television and the Bendigo Advertiser for their extensive coverage which generated record hits to the website and gave our Club and our sponsors some terrific exposure.
